Notes for James B. Alexander
1. I visited James Alexander in Berkeley, a couple of years before his death. He lamented that he had no relatives. I do not recall if he meant he was the only child of his parents or if he had outlived all his relatives (except me!). Jim said that as a young man in Nebraska he recalled seeing the wagon ruts made over a hundred years ago across the land. His father was born in Scotland.
2. Jim, very late in life, “adopted” a lodge sister as his daughter. He lived with her and her husband up until the time of his death.
